The draw for the 2024 Davis Cup Finals - Group Stage, which was conducted at the ITF offices in London on Tuesday, has thrown up plenty of intriguing combinations.
With group-stage play taking place from 10-15 September, defending champion Italy will take on Netherlands, Belgium and Brazil in front of its home fans in Group A in Bologna. Last year, Jannik Sinner led his country to its first Davis Cup title since 1976, with strong support from Matteo Arnaldi, Lorenzo Sonego and Lorenzo Musetti.
Another of the host nations, Spain, will face a tough task in Valencia. It competes in a stacked Group B that also includes 2022 and 2023 finalist Australia, 10-time winner France and three-time champion Czech Republic.
Germany, the United States, Slovakia and Chile will bid for qualification success in Group C, which will take place in Zhuhai, China. It will be the first time China has hosted a Davis Cup Finals event. Meanwhile Great Britain will look to channel home support in Manchester, where it faces 2022 champion Canada, Finland and Argentina in Group D.
The Davis Cup Finals Group Stage is played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Davis Cup Final 8 knockout competition. That will take place in Malaga from 19-24 November, when the 2024 Davis Cup champion will be crowned.
