The Zhuhai ATP 250 event will relocate to Hangzhou beginning with the September 2024 edition.
Hangzhou, the birthplace of Chinese star Wu Yibing, is 200 kilometres from Shanghai and a business base for many well-known corporations. The city hosted the 2023 Asian Games.
With a population of nearly 13 million, Hangzhou will host the tournament at the tennis centre of the Hangzhou Olympics Sports Centre, a state-of-the-art facility.
The venue’s centre court has an 8,000-seat capacity and a retractable roof. Two additional show courts have 2,000-seat capacities.
The city has plenty of natural scenery and well-known tourist locations that include West Lake. The tournament will provide $1,000,630 in prize money.
Tournament director Leon Sun said: “It is an exciting move for the tournament to relocate to Hangzhou, one of the most historical cities in China, where natural beauty combines with modern style. The newly constructed tennis venue, five-star hotels and convenience, will provide a world-class experience for players and fans to kick off the Asian swing of ATP tournaments.”
