Bopanna/Ramanathan Win Adelaide Title, Koolhof/Skupski Triumph In Melbourne

Both pairs were teaming for first time this week

Indian duo Rohan Bopanna and Ramkumar Ramanathan completed a stunning tournament debut as a team Sunday by upsetting top seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo 7-6(6), 6-1 in the Adelaide 1 International final.

Bopanna and Ramanathan had played just one Davis Cup doubles match together before this week.

World No. 43 Bopanna claimed his 19th tour-level title but first since Doha 2020 (w/ Koolhof). Ramanathan, No. 144 in the ATP Rankings, captured his first tour-level crown.

Elsewhere in Melbourne, Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski also ended their tournament debut as a team in style Sunday, downing Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 6-4, 6-4 to lift the Melbourne Summer Set trophy.

The top seeds dropped just one set en route to the title and were strong on serve in the championship match, winning 82 per cent (27/33) of points behind their first delivery to triumph after 89 minutes.

With victory, World No. 21 Koolhof, who won the Nitto ATP Finals crown in 2020 [w/Mektic], has now captured eight tour-level titles, while Skupski of Great Britain has clinched seven trophies at this level, including three with his brother Ken Skupski.

Sixth seeds Nedovyesov and Qureshi were also teaming for the first time this week in Melbourne. Nedovyesov was aiming to win his first tour-level title, while the experienced Qureshi was targeting his 19th, but first since 2020 when he captured the crown in New York [w/Inglot].
