ATP ACES For Charity: Stockholm
The Swedish Cancer Society raises awareness with help from the Stockholm Open.
Charities and Causes
The If Stockholm Open supports the Swedish Cancer Society. Founded in 1951, the organisation has a mission to beat cancer and focuses on raising funds for research, providing education on cancer in society and how to decrease one’s own risk, and improving health care in the community.
The If Stockholm Open assists with fundraising and educational efforts during the tournament and throughout the year, collecting donations, selling official clothing and auctioning items for the Swedish Cancer Society.
The tournament is held in October, “the pink month”, when the Cancer Society increases fundraising and awareness efforts. The If Stockholm Open provides pink ribbons for its volunteers and players, and also sells them to spectators.
In 2014, the If Stockholm Open donated approximately 100,000 SEK to the Cancer Society through all its fundraising efforts, collecting donations through sales of the pink ribbons and official clothing, deposit cans on-site, an on-going collection on its homepage, and auction of a hospitality package.
The SkiStar Swedish Open and If Stockholm Open received a €15,000 grant for the Cancer Society through the ATP ACES For Charity programme in 2015.
