Hewitt, De Minaur Face Off In 's-Hertogenbosch Doubles Draw
Lleyton Hewitt has served as a mentor to fellow Aussie Alex de Minaur, but now looks to impart a doubles lesson at the Libema Open. The former World No. 1 and 2018 Next Gen ATP Finals runner-up will battle for bragging rights when they face off in the opening round of the doubles draw in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
The wild card team of Hewitt and Jordan Thompson will play De Minaur and David Vega Hernandez. There won't be any secrets when Hewitt and De Minaur play each other since they're familiar with each others doubles skills. They teamed up in January at the Brisbane International, losing their opening match to Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff, and reached the quarter-finals in last year's Millennium Estoril Open.
Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo are the top seeds and seek their second title in ’s-Hertogenbosch after winning in 2017 (d. Klaasen/Ram). Kubot also prevailed in 2015 with Ivo Karlovic (d. Herbert/Mahut). Last year’s finalists Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus are the second seeds. Venus took the title in 2016 with Mate Pavic (d. Inglot/Klaasen) and Klaasen is a three-time finalist.
