Read & Watch: Del Potro Brings Kids To Tears Of Joy In Tandil

Argentine back in action this week at the Delray Beach Open

Juan Martin del Potro helped a worthy cause and thousands of his biggest fans earlier this month when he hosted an open practice in his hometown of Tandil, Argentina. The 6'6” “Tower of Tandil”, as he's affectionately known, welcomed anyone and everyone, so long as they brought one non-perishable food item for the Tandil food bank.

“We collected 730 [kilograms] for the Tandil kids, and I'm very proud to help the people... We made a big event. I'm so happy we did it,” said Del Potro, who held a similar event in December 2017.

The No. 4 player in the ATP Rankings made time for the fans after his practice, signing autographs, giving away his headband and bringing kids to tears with his generosity.

Del Potro is making his 2019 debut this week at the Delray Beach Open. On Friday night, he will face American Mackenzie McDonald for a place in the semi-finals at the ATP 250 event.
