Dodig/Chan Win Wimbledon Mixed Doubles Title
Pair won Roland Garros trophy last month
Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan of Chinese Taipei captured their second consecutive Grand Slam mixed doubles title on Sunday at The Championships with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko in 70 minutes on No. 1 Court. Last month, the pair lifted their second straight Roland Garros trophy.
“I think we had a great run from Paris. Me and Latisha really are feeling great on the court together,” said Dodig. “We have good chemistry, we’ve become good friends which is very important in a team sport.”
When asked about winning at the US Open, Dodig added, “It’s definitely our goal, our challenge. We know it is not easy in mixed. It’s very challenging, very tough, many good teams. Small things are very important. We’re one of the better teams, hopefully we can make two more.”
The 34-year-old Dodig has now won four major championship trophies, including the 2015 Roland Garros crown (d. Bryan/Bryan) with Marcelo Melo. The pair had also lost in the 2013 Wimbledon final.
