Dodig/Roger-Vasselin Lift Maiden Team Title In Montpellier
Top seeds improve to 6-2 as a team
The top seeds, who made their team debut at the Sydney International last month, won 74 per cent of service points (39/53) en route to victory after 69 minutes. Dodig and Roger-Vasselin dropped just one set en route to the title and improve to 6-2 as a team.
"I am very happy about this first title together. It is only our third tournament," said Roger-Vasselin. "It was a tough week. It was a great week. In the final, I think we played our best match. It is our first title and hopefully it will not be our only one."
Following his 26th tour-level doubles final appearance, Dodig now owns 12 doubles crowns. It is Roger-Vasselin's 17th tour-level doubles trophy. The 35-year-old Frenchman also lifted the Montpellier title in 2012, alongside countryman Nicolas Mahut.
Bonzi and Hoang were bidding to claim their first ATP Tour title on their tour-level team debut. The French duo did not drop a set en route to the championship match.
Dodig and Roger-Vasselin receive 250 ATP Doubles Ranking points and split €29,650 in prize money. Bonzi and Hoang gain 150 points and share €15,200.
