Federer To Compete In Dubai, Scene Of 100th Title

Swiss legend hasn't played since 30 January 2020

Roger Federer will continue his ATP Tour comeback by competing at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which begins on 14 March.

The Swiss superstar, who will return to action at next week's Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha, will join Dominic Thiem, Andrey Rublev and Matteo Berrettini in Dubai.

Gael Monfils, 2016 champion Stan Wawrinka, Denis Shapovalov, Jannik Sinner and Kei Nishikori are also scheduled to feature at the ATP 500 hard-court tournament.

Federer, an eight-time Dubai champion, has undergone two right knee operations in the past 12 months and last played on 30 January 2020, when he lost to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open semi-finals.

Two years ago, Federer beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-4 in the 2019 Dubai final to claim his 100th tour-level title. He has a 53-6 match record at the Aviation Club in Dubai.

The 39-year-old Federer has won 1,242 matches and 103 titles during his legendary career. Only Jimmy Connors (1,274 match wins and 109 titles) has won more matches and titles in the Open Era (since April 1968).
