Herbert/Mahut Save 3 Match Points, Reach Roland Garros Final

The Frenchmen will play Bublik/Golubev for the title

Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut have won all four Grand Slam championships together. Now, they have a chance to lift a second Roland Garros trophy.

The home favourites saved three match points on Thursday en route to defeating second seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-7(2), 7-6(2), 6-4 in the semi-finals.

This is the sixth time Herbert and Mahut are competing at Roland Garros together. The 2018 champions are now one match from becoming the first all-French team to triumph at the clay-court Grand Slam twice. The only other home favourites to lift the trophy were Henri Leconte/Yannick Noah (1984) and Julien Benneteau/Edouard Roger-Vasselin (2014).

Cabal and Farah, who have now made the Roland Garros semi-finals together four times, held three match points when the Frenchmen were serving at 3-5 in the second set. The Colombians were then broken in the next game when serving for a spot in the final.

Herbert and Mahut will play Alexander Bublik and Andrey Golubev for the title. The Kazakhstanis rallied past Spaniards Pablo Andujar and Pedro Martinez 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 .

Bublik and Golubev played together this year at the Australian Open, where they upset Cabal and Farah en route to the third round. They converted the two break points they earned against Andujar and Martinez.
