The Tour - Food Court: Indian Food & Pad Thai On The Menu For Hurkacz
In 2021 Hubert Hurkacz sizzled at the Miami Open presented by Itau, powering his way to a maiden ATP Masters 1000 title. The World No. 10 is a little less used to warming things up in the kitchen, admitting his life as a professional tennis player means he rarely has time to work on his culinary skills.
The Pole nonetheless enjoys a wide array of cuisine and in this edition of The Tour - Food Court, ATPTour.com caught up with Hurkacz to grill him on a few of his favourites.
You’re having friends and family round for dinner, what would you be cooking for them?
I think pasta because that’s basically the only thing I can cook!
Any special sauce with it?
Probably some tomato sauce, pretty simple.
How would you rate your cooking skills? Are they OK or do you need to improve a little bit?
If I spent a little bit more time, I could be pretty decent, but for now pretty terrible.
What is your go-to meal the night before a match? What do you like to eat the most?
I enjoy Indian food actually. Thai food is great as well.
A special Indian meal in particular?
I like the eggplant dish a lot, so I usually take this one.
What is the last thing you would eat before going out to play a match?
Probably some rice with vegetables, that would be a thing I would eat before a match.
If you had the luxury of knowing exactly what time you would be playing, how far in advance would you eat it?
Probably two, or two and a half hours before the match.
During a match, what might you eat?
Probably a banana, dates… those are probably the things I would eat during a match.
What are the healthiest things you do like to include in your diet?
A lot of veggies, I like veggies as well, so I like to include them.
If you were going to a restaurant, what would be something that you would commonly order for dinner?
Commonly I… I like Pad Thai as well, the Thai food, so I enjoy this one.
