Third seeds to meet Murray/Soares in championship match

Six days after triumphing in the China Open final, Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo once again overcame Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic at the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Saturday.

The Polish-Brazilian tandem clinched a 6-2, 7-5 victory over the second-seeded duo after 84 minutes, extending their FedEx ATP Head2Head unbeaten record against Marach and Pavic to 3-0. As a result of their semi-final success, Kubot and Melo become the fourth doubles team to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals from 11-18 November at The O2 in London.

Kubot and Melo were clinical in key moments, breaking serve on five of their six break-point chances and saving three of the five break points they faced. The No. 3 seeds will meet Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares for the title.

Murray and Soares, who also qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals this week, will be aiming to lift their second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophy of the season after winning the Western & Southern Open in August (d. Cabal/Farah). Kubot and Melo are bidding to capture their fourth title of the season after title runs in Sydney, Halle and Beijing.
