Murray/Soares beaten in straight sets

Mike Bryan and Jack Sock continued their quest to capture back-to-back Grand Slam titles on Wednesday, beating Maximo Gonzalez and Nicolas Jarry 6-4, 7-6(3) at the US Open.

The Wimbledon champions, who remain undefeated in Grand Slam play (10-0), needed 87 minutes to advance, hitting 25 winners to overcome the unseeded duo. Bryan and Sock own an 8-3 record at tour-level this season after joining forces at the Fever-Tree Championships in June.

The third-seeded Americans will face Western & Southern Open finalists Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah for a place in the final. Cabal and Farah are aiming to reach their second Grand Slam final of the season after a runner-up finish at the Australian Open in January.

Albot and Jaziri will meet seventh seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo in the semi-finals. Kubot and Melo are bidding to lift their second Grand Slam title after triumphing at Wimbledon in 2017.
