Gael Monfils may be competing in his final season on the ATP Tour, but the Frenchman continues to deliver plenty of moments of magic.
One arrived at the Cincinnati Open, where Monfils raced from side to side before finding a spectacular winner past Rinky Hijikata, with his thrilling effort earning August’s Hot Shot of the Month presented by Yokohama award.
Monfils appeared beaten but sprang into action with one of his trademark jumping shots to fend off a Hijikata overhead, before tracking down the resulting drop volley and guiding a perfectly placed winner into the court, sending the Ohio crowd into a frenzy.
With his spectacular display, the former No. 6 player in the PIF ATP Rankings joins Alexander Zverev, Lorenzo Musetti, Casper Ruud and Joao Fonseca among the fan-voted award winners in 2026. Stay tuned throughout September to discover which hot shots will take centre stage.
