The ATP on Friday announced a $10,000 USD donation to Mexican organisation Construyendo to support its efforts in rebuilding homes devastated by Hurricane Otis in Acapulco in October 2023.
Hurricane Otis left a lasting impact on the communities of Acapulco, particularly affecting the homes and livelihoods of many residents. In line with ATP Serves, the ATP is committed to supporting communities in need.
ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi said: “This year’s tournament has a special significance. It is remarkable to see tennis in Acapulco just four months after Hurricane Otis. The city’s rebound is testament to its strength and resilience, and we’re proud of the role that the tennis community was able to play in supporting rebuilding efforts. Our thoughts remain with the people of Acapulco as those efforts continue.”
Felix Auger-Aliassime volunteered with Construyendo before the event to rebuild the home of Julio Zamora, who had lived there for more than 30 years.

“I think it’s a great initiative from the organisation, from the tournament, to get players like myself involved, the community involved,” Auger-Aliassime said. “I think it sends a very positive message after the disaster that happened a couple months back, so hopefully I come back next year and see [Julio’s] beautiful home rebuilt.”
Stefanos Tsitsipas pledged $1,000 per ace towards Acapulco relief programmes. The Greek hit 15 aces, making his donation $15,000.
