Andre Agassi made a special appearance at the Arizona Tennis Classic on Friday.

The former No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings visited the Phoenix Country Club, taking part in a Q&A session with VIP members before performing the honourary coin toss for the match between #NextGenATP teenager Joao Fonseca against Hugo Gaston.

“You guys are so blessed to have this tournament,” Agassi said when addressing a VIP crowd in Phoenix. “What a great club and venue. So cool. What a great Challenger week, to get such good talent here. It’s awesome to see it up close.”

A 60-time tour-level champion, Agassi played just five Challenger tournaments throughout his career.

The American won his first tour-level title in 1987 as a 16-year-old in Itaparica, Brazil. Fast forward 38 years and Brazil has a rising superstar in the 18-year-old Fonseca, who won his first tour-level title last month in Buenos Aires.
