Could a sleek fresh haircut be the spark that propels Carlos Alcaraz to his first Australian Open title?
The Spaniard arrived Down Under sporting a new, short haircut, which he discussed following Wednesday's charity match against Alex de Minaur in Melbourne.
“It’s a new year, I knew that I was going to be here in Australia, 40 degrees [celsius] this summer,” Alcaraz said with a smile. “So I thought that I needed something new.”

The 21-year-old fell to home favourite De Minaur 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 in the charity match.
Alcaraz, who is seeded third at this year’s Australian Open, reached the quarter-finals at Melbourne Park last year. A four-time major champion, Alcaraz is aiming to become the youngest male to complete the career Slam. Main-draw action begins Sunday at 11 a.m. AEDT.
