Carlos Alcaraz has moved closer to Jannik Sinner in their Big Titles battle.
The Spaniard on Sunday beat Ben Shelton in the Rolex Paris Masters final to claw within one Big Title of his great rival. He now owns 16 Big Titles – a combination of Grand Slam championships, trophies at the Nitto ATP Finals and ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and Olympic singles gold medals.
This was Alcaraz's first Big Title since he returned from a wrist injury at the US Open. The 23-year-old has won nine consecutive matches overall.
Alcaraz has now earned at least one ATP Masters 1000 title in five consecutive seasons, and he has claimed nine trophies at the level. Sinner is just ahead with 10 Masters 1000 triumphs, having won the first five Masters 1000 events of 2026.
The No. 3 player in the PIF ATP Rankings has won all of his Big Titles since the start of the 2022 season, averaging more than three Big Titles per year.

The first Big Title of the year for Alcaraz was a historic one. The Spaniard triumphed at the Australian Open to complete the Career Grand Slam.
Now Alcaraz is moving closer to completing the Career Golden Masters. He has won seven of the nine Masters 1000 events, with the exceptions being Canada and Shanghai.
Alcaraz has won a Big Title for every 3.9 tournaments he has played. He only trails Novak Djokovic (3.3) and Rafael Nadal (3.5) in the category.
Alcaraz will now try to add a Big Title he does not yet have in his collection: the Nitto ATP Finals trophy. The season finale will take place from 15-22 November in Turin.
