Defending champion Jannik Sinner, record 10-time titlist Novak Djokovic and four-time major winner Carlos Alcaraz will all begin their Australian Open campaigns on a packed Monday schedule in Melbourne.
The full Monday order of play is still to be made, but the remaining matches in the bottom half of the men’s draw will be played on Day 2, alongside a selection of top half matches, including Sinner’s clash against Nicolas Jarry.
Djokovic, who is being coached by Andy Murray at the hard-court major, will play American wild card Nishesh Basavareddy. The Serbian is aiming to win a record-extending 25th major and 100th tour-level title this fortnight.
Alcaraz will try to become the youngest player to complete the career Grand Slam in Melbourne and opens against Alexander Shevchenko on Day 2. Third seed Alcaraz leads Shevchenko 1-0 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
The 2023 AO finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas also starts on Monday. The Greek plays 20-year-old American Alex Michelsen, who competed at last month's Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF.
