Australian wild card Cruz Hewitt, the son of former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt, is in the qualifying draw at the season’s first major. Four-time quarter-finalist Kei Nishikori is also in the field, setting up the Japanese star for just his fourth outing in the past eight months.

Hewitt, 17, will begin his campaign against two-time reigning NCAA singles champion Michael Zheng while Nishikori faces Belgian Kimmer Coppejans.

Alexander Blockx, a finalist at the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF, will aim for his major main-draw debut in Melbourne, where he is seeded seventh in the qualifying draw. Blockx is fresh off a title run at the Canberra Challenger. Fellow 2025 Jeddah competitors Rafael Jodar, Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, Martin Landaluce, Nishesh Basavareddy, Dino Prizmic and Justin Engel are also in the field.

Australian Bernard Tomic, former No. 17 in the PIF ATP Rankings, is in the qualifying field and will seek to compete in the main draw for the first time since 2021.

Qualifying action in Melbourne runs from 12-15 January.
