Play has resumed on covered courts after heavy rain interrupted Wednesday evening play at the Australian Open after the Melbourne downpour kept Cameron Norrie in particular on his toes.
Briton Norrie was three points from victory in the fourth-set tie-break against Emilio Nava at 6-1, 7-6(3), 4-7, 6-6 (4/3) on Court 7 when the heavens opened, but the Briton returned after an approximately one-hour delay to clinch a four-set win. Three other men’s singles matches that were also suspended resumed within 30 minutes as they are being played on courts with a retractable roof.
Home hope Alex de Minaur resumed level at 6-7(5), 6-2 with Hamad Medjedovic on Rod Laver Arena, Frances Tiafoe resumed tied 2-2 in the first set with Francisco Comesana on Margaret Court Arena, and Alexander Zverev restarted against Alexandre Muller leading 6-3, 4-6, 4-2 on John Cain Arena.
