Czech Jakub Mensik qualified for the Australian Open for the first time on Friday, defeating Harold Mayot 6-3, 7-6(2) to back up his third-round run at last year’s US Open.

The 18-year-old, who won his first ATP Challenger Tour title last season before reaching the third round in New York, will be joined in the draw by 18-year-old Croatian Dino Prizmic, who beat Aziz Dougaz 6-3, 6-4. Mensik plays Denis Shapovalov in the first round, while Prizmic takes on World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Former World No. 8 David Goffin downed Gabriel Diallo 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to qualify for his 10th Australian Open. Goffin reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne in 2017 and will play 21st seed Ugo Humbert in the first round.

Italians Flavio Cobolli and Giulio Zeppieri advanced. Cobolli beat Santiago Rodriguez Taverna, while Zeppieri defeated Alexander Ritschard 6-3, 6-3.
