Alexander Bublik and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard captured ATP Challenger Tour 175 titles on Sunday, and their winning form will be tested immediately as the two champions will meet in the opening round of the Bitpanda Hamburg Open.

Bublik claimed his seventh Challenger crown at the Piemonte Open Intesa Sanpaolo in Turin, where he defeated China’s Buyunchaokete 6-3, 6-3 in the final. The eighth-seeded Kazakh dropped just three points behind his first serve in each set, according to Infosys ATP Stats, as he raced to a 73-minute victory.

Following his title run, Bublik is up 25 places to No. 51 in the PIF ATP Rankings.

“I wasn’t expecting anything but to win,” Bublik said. “I just stayed on my level, had very solid matches. I had a tough one against Tomas [Martin Etcheverry], a former Top 30 player. For me, it was just keeping my level to get back to where I belong where I stayed most of my career. It’s just a little step towards what I really want to achieve.”

Mpetshi Perricard lifted the trophy on home soil at the BNP Paribas Primrose Bordeaux. The 6’10” Frenchman outlasted former No. 16 Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-5 after hammering 26 aces in the final, during which he also saved 11 of 12 break points.

The 21-year-old entered the week on a six-match skid, yet relied on the French crowd to help him get back to the winner’s circle and claim his fifth Challenger title.

Mpetshi Perricard this week is defending 250 points from last year’s title run at his home ATP event in Lyon. He will face a stern test in the opening round, going against Turin champion Bublik, with whom he is levelled at 1-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.

In other Challenger action, #NextGenATP Croatian Dino Prizmic was crowned champion at the Zagreb Open. The 18-year-old led Luca Van Assche 6-2 in the final before the Frenchman was forced to retire with a left hamstring injury. Prizmic’s title run marks his first Challenger trophy since August 2023. Prizmic has climbed 11 spots to eighth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah. He is aiming for his first trip to the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF.

Chilean Cristian Garin lifted his second consecutive title by winning the Oeiras 5 Challenger. Two weeks removed from his triumph in Mauthausen, the former No. 17 extended his winning streak to 10. Garin, 28, fought off American Mitchell Krueger 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2 in the championship match.

It All Adds Up

Zsombor Piros also claimed back-to-back titles. The Hungarian, who two weeks ago won in Ostrava, triumphed at the KIA Tunis Open with a dominant performance, not dropping a set all week. Piros overcame Titouan Droguet 7-5, 7-6(3) in the final, during which the 25-year-old saved five set points in the opener before stealing the first set.

Patrick Kypson won the KIA Open in Bogota for his fourth Challenger title. Competing in just his fifth tournament of the season, the American ousted Brazil’s Pedro Sakamoto 6-1, 6-3 in the clay-court final.
