Tallon Griekspoor battled hard on Friday to continue his ATP Challenger Tour winning streak at the BNP Paribas Primrose Bordeaux.

The Dutchman, who has won 32 consecutive Challenger-level matches dating back to 2021, overcame French lefty Terence Atmane 7-6(3), 6-7(11), 7-5 after two hours, 53 minutes in warm conditions. Atmane pushed Griekspoor to the brink with his high-risk, high-reward game, saving four match points in the second set to force a decider against the World No. 35.

Griekspoor converted just two of his 14 break points, but the third seed earned a crucial break at 5-5 in the decider and served out the match the following game to book his place in the semi-finals.

It All Adds Up

"Tough fight. I guess perfect preparation for the French Open, best of five," said Griekspoor, referring to the length of the quarter-final. "Good for me to spend three hours on court and see where I am physically, but happy with the win and still feeling good.

"Whenever [Terence] had a chance, he went full. I thought he did unbelievably well. He served really well, made it really awkward and tough for me. He showed some heart out there today and played some great tennis."

Griekspoor enjoyed a historic season on the Challenger Tour in 2021, when he won a record eight titles — including five in a row — and set a new mark for the longest winning streak at that level with 25 consecutive victories. He capped the year with a 42-7 match record. The following year, he lifted the trophy in his lone Challenger appearance, bringing his winning streak to 30.

The 28-year-old will next face another heavy hitter in Nikoloz Basilashvili, former No. 16 in the PIF ATP Rankings, who ousted top seed Brandon Nakashima 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-3. Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard defeated Alexander Shevchenko 7-5, 7-5 and Rinky Hijikata downed Benjamin Hassan 6-4, 7-6(3).

Bublik wins in Turin, Altmaier downs Cobolli
Alexander Bublik, a finalist at the Phoenix Challenger in March, is aiming to go one step further at the Piemonte Open Intesa Sanpaolo in Turin, where he moved into the last four by defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

Bublik will next meet Daniel Altmaier, who upset top seed and home hope Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 7-5. The German created 22 break chances, converting four, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Camilo Ugo Carabelli needed two hours, 58 minutes to escape Chun-Hsin Tseng 1-6, 7-6(2), 6-1. Buyunchaokete advanced after defending champion Francesco Passaro retired at 5-5 in the first set.
