Sinner, Shelton matches resume following Cincinnati rain

Play has resumed on Wednesday at the Cincinnati Open following a rain delay.

The action was halted at 2:55 p.m. local time in Ohio, where Jannik Sinner and Ben Shelton were among the stars competing. The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings Sinner was leading Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 1-2 when play was suspended, while Shelton was 7-6(3), 1-2 up on Roberto Bautista Agut. Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev will be in action later on Day 7 in Ohio, where play began again at 5:43pm.

Earlier, Holger Rune advanced after Frances Tiafoe was forced to retire due to a back injury. The Dane led the American and former Cincinnati finalist 6-4, 3-1.
