Few players understand the journey from a promising junior to a professional on the ATP Tour better than Alex de Minaur.

The 27-year-old knows well the highs, pressures and opportunities that come with chasing a dream in tennis. Now he wants to help the next generation navigate the same path.

That ambition sits at the core of the Alex de Minaur Foundation. Through his initiative, the Australian is focused on supporting the next generation of players and investing in the future of the sport. De Minaur will personally work with recipients of the De Minaur Junior Tour Scholarship in Australia, giving talented juniors access to guidance, opportunities and experiences that can help shape their development.

“It is my way of trying to help and inspire the next generation,” the Australian shared. “It consists of me bringing over talented players from Australia to Europe to have a training week with me and go on to compete in Europe.

“There is a little camp set up for them where they will be able to train for a couple of days and watch me practise.”

De Minaur is excited to meet the young players in person and start working closely with them. The 11-time ATP Tour titlist has said he will be available whenever the players need him.

“We are going to be spending some time together,” De Minaur said. “It is going to be a lot of fun to meet this year’s recipients. They’ve got my number. They can contact me throughout the year, pick my brain, spend a week with me, see what it takes and [I will] do my best to lead by example.”

The idea was born after one of De Minaur’s training sessions in Monte-Carlo, where a group of young Australian players competing in Europe visited him. Their enthusiasm left a lasting impression on the 27-year-old.

“This was something that sparked an idea,” De Minaur shared. “Seeing their excitement sparked something in me.”

The initiative reflects De Minaur’s hands-on approach to supporting the sport's future stars. Despite a demanding schedule that keeps him busy competing around the world, the Australian is determined to play an active part in supporting the next wave of talent.

“Even though I have a very busy schedule, I will make time for this because this fulfils me,” De Minaur shared. “This makes me very happy, seeing these kids excited and wanting to learn.

“All I want to do is help the next generation, even if it is one per cent. The goal is to be able to help more and more kids every single year and to have this be something quite significant.”
