Kamil Majchrzak ended his dream week in style on Sunday at the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, where he battled past second seed Alex de Minaur 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(5) to capture his first ATP Tour title.
The 30-year-old is the third Polish male to lift a tour-level trophy in the Open Era (since 1968), joining 15-time champion Wojtek Fibak and Hubert Hurkacz.
"I don't know what to say. This is an incredible moment for me and an incredible fun and run to make this happen," Majchrzak said. "Alex is one of the toughest opponents you can face, so I knew I had to play my best to win and I think I did for the most part of the match.
"I am really grateful for this moment and will really enjoy it so much. Thanks to everyone who came here. It has been unbelievable."
In a standout run at the ATP 250 event, Majchrzak caused upset after upset after upset to seal the crown. The Pole defeated World No. 4 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals, World No. 8 Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals and then World No. 6 De Minaur in the final to become just the second man to earn three Top 10 wins en route to an ATP 250 title since the series began in 2009. Grigor Dimitrov also achieved the feat in Brisbane in 2017.
In a tight final, Majchrzak recovered from squandering a break advantage in the third set. In a high-quality tie-break, the 30-year-old played fearlessly, pushing De Minaur from side to side to record victory. Majchrzak broke down in tears following his two-hour, 25-minute win before he embraced the packed crowd.
The 30-year-old is up 29 spots to No. 47 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings and will break the Top 50 for the first time on Monday. Majchrzak is also the fifth first-time winner on the ATP Tour this year, joining Rafael Jodar, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Ignacio Buse and Mariano Navone.
By triumphing, Majchrzak improved to 1-2 in his Lexus ATP Head2Head series with De Minaur, gaining revenge for past defeats to the Australian at the Australian Open in 2022 and in Shanghai in 2025.
De Minaur was chasing his 12th tour-level trophy and third on grass, after winning in Eastbourne and in 's-Hertogenbosch in 2024. The Australian is now 22-12 on the season, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
