Facundo Diaz Acosta became the first player to claim four ATP Challenger titles this season on Sunday when he triumphed at the Aspria Tennis Cup trofeo BCS in Milan.
The 25-year-old Argentine survived a three-hour, 20-minute final, outlasting Marco Cecchinato 6-7(0), 7-6(5), 7-6(5) to lift the trophy. Diaz Acosta, who reached a career-high No. 47 in the PIF ATP Rankings in April 2024, is aiming to return to the Top 100. Following his victory in MIlan, where he also won the title in 2023, Diaz Acosta is up to No. 111 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings.
The lefty also triumphed this season in Francavilla al Mare, Sao Leopoldo and on home soil in Tigre. Diaz Acosta boasts a 31-9 season record at ATP Challenger level.
Another player who is enjoying a standout Challenger season is Zsombor Piros, who won his third trophy of 2026 and 10th overall at the Ion Tiriac Challenger. The 26-year-old defeated Keegan Smith 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match to improve to 26-7 this season on the ATP Challenger circuit.
The Hungarian also won the Madrid and Lugano Challengers earlier this year and reached the final in Oeiras and Zagreb.
Schick wins first Challenger title in home state
American Braden Shick was crowned champion at the Cary Tennis Classic, where the 22-year-old was making just his eighth ATP Challenger appearance. A North Carolina native, Shick capped a dream week just 25 minutes from his alma mater, NC State University. Shick rallied past University of Texas star Timo Legout 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the final.
Pucinelli de Almeida, Moeller claim Challenger 50 crowns
Matheus Pucinelli De Almeida and Marvin Moeller each earned a title at ATP Challenger 50 level. The Brazilian Pucinelli De Almeida overcame Hernan Casanova 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 in the final of the Challenger de Quito Copa Banco Guayaquil in Ecuador. Moeller was victorious at the Internationaux de Tennis de Troyes, where he beat 20-year-old Swiss Kilian Feldbausch 7-6(5), 6-3 in the championship match.
