When it comes to longevity at No. 1, Novak Djokovic’s supremacy is undisputed.

The Serbian surpassed Roger Federer for the most weeks at No. 1 in the history of the PIF ATP Rankings in March 2021, when he spent his 311th week at the summit. Two years ago today, on 27 February 2023, Djokovic took ownership of that record across the men’s and women’s games by overtaking Stefanie Graf with his 378th week on top of tennis’ mountain.

"Surpassing one of the greatest, most legendary tennis players — both men and women — that ever played, Steffi Graf... I’m flattered, obviously extremely, extremely proud and happy for this achievement," Djokovic said at the time in a video to his fans.

It All Adds Up

Djokovic first rose to No. 1 at age 24 in July of 2011, and spent a personal-best 122 consecutive weeks at the summit of the PIF ATP Rankings between July 2014 and November 2016. A record eight-time year-end No. 1, Djokovic’s most recent stint at the summit ended in June 2024, when Jannik Sinner made his debut at the top spot. The Serbian has enjoyed 10 separate stints at No. 1.

Now with 428 total weeks atop the PIF ATP Rankings, Djokovic is one of just five players to surpass the 300-weeks mark. He heads a star-studded list that also includes Graf (377 weeks), Martina Navratilova (332), Serena Williams (319) and Federer (310).

During his most recent period at the top — 39 weeks from September 2023 to June 2024 — Djokovic won his record seventh Nitto ATP Finals crown.
