Novak Djokovic earned his 100th match win at Wimbledon on Saturday when he flew past countryman Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 to reach the fourth round at SW19 for the 17th time.

In his best performance of the week, the 38-year-old Serbian was in full control against Kecmanovic, who was powerless to stop his fate. Djokovic dominated the baseline exchanges and entertained the Centre Court crowd with a number of deft volleys to book his spot in the second week after one hour and 47 minutes.

With his fourth consecutive victory against Kecmanovic, Djokovic improved to 4-0 in the pair's Lexus ATP Head2Head series and 8-0 against countrymen at Slams. He also notched his 100th match win at Wimbledon with only record eight-time champion Roger Federer (105) earning more in the men’s singles.

“I am very grateful, privileged to be in the position that I am,” Djokovic said when asked about his 100th win. "I have said it many times. Tennis made me who I am. It has given me things in life that I can experience. I try not to take anything for granted, particularly at this age. I'm still going strong, trying to compete with the young players and do some slides and some splits on the court.

Wimbledon is a favourite tournament and dream tournament of not just myself but probably the majority of tennis players. Growing up most of the kids dream of playing here and winning here and I am blessed to have done it multiple times. Any history that I make at my favourite tournament, I am blessed.”

Federer is also the only player to have advanced to the fourth round more than Djokovic. The Swiss legend reached that stage 18 times, while Djokovic will compete in the last 16 for the 17th time when he meets Alex de Minaur on Monday. The Australian was denied a quarter-final clash with Djokovic last year due to injury but ensured he would face the sixth seed this year after beating Danish qualifier August Holmgren 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-3.

Djokovic, 24-8 on the season, is seeking a record-extending 25th major this fortnight. If he wins the title at Wimbledon, he will equal Federer’s record tally of eight crowns at the grass-court Slam. After dropping a set in his opening match against Alexandre Muller, the former No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings swept aside Daniel Evans and was comfortable against Kecmanovic.

“It is never easy playing a friend,” Djokovic said on Kecmanovic. “Miomir is a super nice guy. Someone that I have known for many years, faced each other on different surfaces. More than rivals and competitors, we are friends and teammates.”

Djokovic gained the decisive break of the first set in the eighth game, demonstrating quick reactions and impressive agility at the net to outlast Kecmanovic in a fun cat-and-mouse exchange. The 100 tour-level titlist then raced through the second set and gained an early break of serve in the third set when Kecmanovic double-faulted. Such was the nature of Djokovic's win, Kecmanovic tried to find comfort in the few games in which he won, raising his arms aloft after holding serve twice in the third set.

Djokovic is up one spot to fifth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin and will rise above Jack Draper and into fourth if he reaches the quarter-finals. Djokovic takes a 2-1 Lexus ATP Head2Head series lead into his match against De Minaur.
