Novak Djokovic is a record seven-time Nitto ATP Finals champion, but will the 39-year-old be back at the prestigious year-end event once again this November?
The Serbian is chasing another opportunity to compete with the best in Italy, but with the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin entering its final stages, he has little room for error if he is to make his 17th appearance at the event.
Djokovic is in action this week at the ATP 500 in Basel, where he can significantly boost his chances by winning the trophy, before he turns his attention to the final ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season in Paris next week. Djokovic is 11th in the Live Race with 2,890 points, 319 behind ninth-placed Rafael Jodar, who occupies the final qualification spot following Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal for the remainder of 2026.
The door is open for Djokovic to make a big move. Jodar was also competing in Basel, but the Spaniard fell in a final-set tie-break to Valentin Vacherot on Thursday. Eighth-placed Frances Tiafoe suffered an opening-round defeat to Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP 500 event in Vienna. Tiafoe, who is chasing his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals, has 3,380 points.
If Djokovic wins his 103rd tour-level title this week, he would move to 131 points ahead of Jodar and within 40 points of Tiafoe heading to Paris.
PIF ATP Live Race To Turin (As of 29 October, 2026)
| Player | Points |
| 1) Alexander Zverev | 9,200 (qualified) |
| 2) Jannik Sinner | 7,950 (out for rest of 2026) |
| 3) Carlos Alcaraz | 4,650 (qualified) |
| 4) Ben Shelton | 4,530 (qualified) |
| 5) Daniil Medvedev | 3,710 |
| 6) Flavio Cobolli | 3,690 |
| 7) Arthur Fils | 3,475 |
| 8) Frances Tiafoe | 3,380 |
| 9) Rafael Jodar | 3,209 |
| 10) Alex de Minaur | 2,980 |
| 11) Novak Djokovic | 2,890 |
| 12) Tommy Paul | 2,775 |
| 13) Taylor Fritz | 2,735 |
Alex de Minaur is one place above Djokovic in 10th with 2,980 points and has reached the quarter-finals in Vienna. The Australian could move level with Tiafoe if he wins the title in Austria. De Minaur is targetting his third consecutive appearance at the Nitto ATP Finals.
Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli and Arthur Fils sit fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the Live Race and are all still in action this week. Medvedev and Cobolli are competing in Vienna, while Fils is in Basel. Deep runs would help all three increase their qualification hopes before the decisive week in Paris.
Behind Djokovic, Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz face a tougher challenge to break into the qualification places. Paul sits 12th with 2,775 points and is in the Vienna quarter-finals. Fritz, the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals runner-up, is 13th with 2,735 points and competing in Basel. Even if either player wins a title this week, neither can move into the top nine before Paris.
