Titouan Droguet and Kyrian Jacquet captured their first tour-level doubles title on Sunday at the Millennium Estoril Open, where they battled past second seeds Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos 7-6(2), 6-7(4), 11-9.
The Frenchmen were making their tour-level debut as a team this week at the ATP 250 event, and earned an upset win against top seeds Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski en route to the final.
In a fireclay competitive championship match, Droguet and Jacquet saved all six break points they faced, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. They eventually sealed victory on their fourth match point, after initially squandering a 9/6 lead in the Match Tie-break.
Droguet and Jacquet were both playing in their maiden ATP Tour doubles final. Droguet is a three-time champion at ATP Challenger level, while Jacquet won his lone title in Aix-en-Provence in 2022 (with Droguet). The 25-year-old Jacquet arrived in Estoril holding a 0-4 tour-level doubles record.
Brazilians Luz and Matos were chasing their fourth ATP Tour title together and third this year, having triumphed in Buenos Aires and Santiago.
