Next Gen ATP Finals runner-up Arthur Fils has reached his third quarter-final of the season following a 6-3, 6-3 win over Thiago Seyboth Wild at the Movistar Chile Open in Santiago Wednesday.
Fils, who also reached the last eight in Hong Kong and Auckland in the first two weeks of the season, had lost in the opening round of his first two appearances of the South American Golden Swing in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
Fils won 24 of 27 first-serve points according to Infosys ATP Stats. In second place in the PIF ATP Live Race to Jeddah, the Frenchman looks on track to make a return to the 20-and-under event in Saudi Arabia in December.
Another victory to reach the Santiago semi-finals would likely move him to within a few places of his career-high PIF ATP Live Ranking of No. 34 after he started the week at No. 44.
Standing in his way is Spaniard Pedro Martinez, the 2022 tournament champion, who upset in-form sixth seed Facundo Diaz Acosta 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-1 in three hours and eight minutes.
