Joao Fonseca has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open. The Brazilian announced the news on social media Monday.
"Today, during practice, I felt slight discomfort on the left side of my abdomen," Fonseca posted on his Instagram Stories. "After undergoing tests, my team and I decided to withdraw from the Cincinnati Open to recover as quickly as possible.
"Thank you for the hospitality, @cincytennis, and to the fans for your continued support. See you next year."
The 19-year-old Brazilian was scheduled to play Australian qualifier Christopher O'Connell in the third round on Tuesday. Fonseca defeated Botic van de Zandschulp in his opening match at the ATP Masters 1000 event.
Fonseca boasts a 19-13 season record, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. The #NextGenATP star is a two-time ATP Tour champion.
