Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz earned Halle revenge on Sunday.
One year after losing to Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the Terra Wortmann Open final, the Germans returned the favour against the Italians 6-3, 7-6(4) to claim the ATP 500 trophy.
“Tough battle every time. Last time was okay, but not two in a row to be honest!” Krawietz said during the trophy ceremony. “Congrats and if we play against each other it’s a good sign because it’s far in the tournament.”

The two star teams are now tied at 3-3 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Krawietz and Puetz saved all three break points they faced according to Infosys ATP Stats to earn their fourth ATP Tour title as a team and their third in Germany.
“Congrats on a great week again. Thanks for letting us win once here in Germany!” Puetz joked to Bolelli and Vavassori during the trophy ceremony. “You guys are great guys, you’re friends actually. I think you’re one of our favourite practice partners. You have a great team around you, very nice everyone, so best of luck for the rest of the season and hopefully we can see each other in Turin.”
Krawietz and Puetz are in seventh place in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, while Bolelli and Vavassori are sixth. Both teams are trying to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals for the second consecutive year.
