Yannick Hanfmann and Jan-Lennard Struff showcased their doubles prowess on home soil at the BOSS OPEN on Sunday, when they captured the title in Stuttgart.
The Germans defeated Daniil Glinka and Stefanos Sakellaridis 7-6(2), 3-6, 11-9 in the final of the grass-court ATP 250 event. Despite both being unranked in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings, Hanfmann and Struff battled through back-to-back Match Tie-break victories to become just the third all-German team to win the Stuttgart crown.
“Feeling really good. Getting a title on home soil is something special, especially on grass,” Hanfmann said. “It’s always fun to play with Struffy. We know each other well. It’s been a really fun week. Today, we really wanted to win and we got it done.”
In the final between the two unseeded pairings, Hanfmann and Struff converted their third championship point, according to Infosys ATP Stats. Both players also competed in the singles draw, where they each exited in the second round.
The title is the fifth ATP Tour doubles crown of Struff’s career and his first on a surface other than hard courts. For Hanfmann, it marks his first appearance in an ATP Tour doubles final. The Germans now hold a 4-1 tour-level record as a team, having debuted together as lucky losers in Halle in 2022.
