Hubert Hurkacz has won January’s Hot Shot of the Month, claiming the fan-voted award following his jaw-dropping moment for Poland against the United States in the United Cup final.
Throughout the 2025 season, the ATP Tour is celebrating the most memorable hot shots hit. In the inaugural month of the award, Hurkacz claimed the prize ahead of candidates Sebastian Korda, Gael Monfils and Kei Nishikori after his stunning full-stretch volley winner in Sydney.
“Hey guys, I just want to thank you so much for all the votes for the shot of the month,” Hurkacz said. “It was quite a shot from me and hopefully many more to come this year.”

Locked at 4-4 in the third set against Taylor Fritz, the heat was turning up in the United Cup Final. Step forward Hurkacz. The 28-year-old gained the upper hand during a baseline exchange when he drove a blistering backhand down the line and charged the net. With no time to set his feet, Fritz scrambled across the baseline and improvised to flick an audacious squash shot forehand crosscourt and seemingly turn the tables in the point. However, Hurkacz was not to be denied.
Undeterred by Fritz's forehand, Hurkacz demonstrated astonishing athleticism to hit a full extension diving volley winner. Flying through the Sydney sky, the 28-year-old managed to delicately caress the ball over the net at full stretch as his backside hit the ground, leaving Fritz bewildered and the crowd in awe.
Hurkacz raised his fist following the winner and soaked in the applause from both benches. Despite losing the match, Hurkacz will now look back at the magical moment with more fondness after being crowned the winner of January’s Hot Shot of the Month.
Stay tuned for more dazzling Hot Shot of the Month contenders as the ATP Tour season unfolds.
