Rafael Jodar and Luciano Darderi’s quarter-final clash at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome was suspended on Wednesday evening due to smoke.

Spaniard Jodar led Italian Darderi 6-5 when smoke from the Coppa Italia football final, held at the Stadio Olimpico 500 meters away, engulfed Campo Centrale, forcing play to be halted due to visibility issues.

After a delay of less than 20 minutes, play resumed, with Darderi holding serve to force a tie-break.
