Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten continued their impressive 2026 season on Friday, when they reached their first final at the Mutua Madrid Open.
The third seeds led Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski 6-3, 4-3 before the Polish-British duo retired due to injury after 54 minutes. Heliovaara and Patten are into their third championship match at ATP Masters 1000 level, having claimed the title in Paris last year and reached the Miami final in March.
They will face reigning Indian Wells champions Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard on Saturday for the title in the Spanish capital. Andreozzi and Guinard defeated Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 6-4, 7-6(3) in Friday's second semi-final.
Heliovaara and Patten are up to first in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings following titles in Adelaide, Doha and Dubai. They are 22-4 in 2026, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.

Heliovaara/Patten sink Arevalo/Pavic in heavyweight QF
Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten continue to find their feet on clay in 2026 at the Mutua Madrid Open. The third-seeded pair downed fifth seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic 6-3, 7-6(3) on Thursday to book a semi-final spot at the ATP Masters 1000 event.
After opening the season on hard courts by winning 17 of their first 19 matches, Heliovaara and Patten went 1-2 across clay events in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona. However, the pair is now into its maiden Madrid semi-final after converting two of 12 break points it earned against Arevalo and Pavic, according to Infosys ATP Stats.
The second-placed team in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, Heliovaara and Patten will face Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski in Friday’s semi-finals, after the British-Polish team overcame Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
In the other half of the draw, Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard overcame Monegasque duo Romain Arneodo and Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. The Argentine-French pair will take on Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni, 7-6(6), 6-2 winners against Andre Goransson and Evan King, in the last four.

Andreozzi/Guinard convert 5th MP vs. Darderi/Tsitsipas for Madrid QF spot
Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard continued their fine 2026 form on Wednesday at the Mutua Madrid Open, where they battled past singles stars Luciano Darderi and Stefanos Tsitsipas 5-7, 6-1, 11-9 to reach the quarter-finals.
The Argentine-French duo converted its fifth match point in a nervy end to the second-round clash, in which they led 9/5 in the Match Tie-break before eventually crossing the line. Andreozzi and Guinard, champions in Indian Wells last month, are up to third in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings.
Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski also booked their quarter-final spot in Madrid on Wednesday afternoon, when they earned a 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 win over singles standouts Tallon Griekspoor and Brandon Nakashima.

Arevalo/Pavic ease past Bublik/Polmans to book Madrid QF spot
Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic continued their Mutua Madrid Open campaign on Tuesday when they cruised past Marc Polmans and Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-4 in the second round. The third seeds, who are aiming to clinch their first title of the season, will face Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten in the last eight.
Heliovaara and Patten overcame Theo Arribage and Albano Olivetti 2-6, 7-6(8), 10-8 to seal their quarter-final spot in Madrid. The fifth seeds, who are now 20-4 in 2026, have won both of their meetings against Arevalo and Pavic this season.
In other doubles second-round action on Tuesday, Romain Arneodo/Valentin Vacherot held firm to outlast Yuki Bhambri/Michael Venus 7-6(3), 3-6, 10-2.

Harrison/Skupski return to winning ways with hard-fought Madrid opener
Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski returned to winning ways on Monday at the Mutua Madrid Open, where they defeated Robert Cash and JJ Tracy 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 to snap a three-match tour-level losing streak and reach the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event.
The fourth seeds arrived in Madrid without a victory since their second round win in Miami last month. Harrison and Skupski, the reigning Australian Open champions, will next meet Andre Goransson and Evan King in the Spanish capital.
In other first-round action on Monday in Madrid, Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul scored a 6-3, 6-3 win over second seeds and Barcelona champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. The Frenchmen saved each of the two break points they faced, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Arneodo/Vacherot stun top seed Granollers/Zeballos in R1
Romain Arneodo and Valentin Vacherot didn't wait long to spring a big upset Sunday at the Mutua Madrid Open, where they opened doubles action at the ATP Masters 1000 event by stunning top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
The Monegasque duo rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory after 72 minutes in the first round of the clay-court event. Third seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten also advanced on Sunday, when they navigated the test posed by singles stars Alejandro Tabilo and Learner Tien for a 7-5, 7-5 win.
Heliovaara and Patten are second in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, aiming to return to the Nitto ATP Finals, where they triumphed in 2025.
