Jakub Mensik has continued to make his mark on the ATP Tour over the past 12 months, climbing to a career-high No. 12 in the PIF ATP Rankings and edging ever closer to the Top 10.
The Czech has already delivered some memorable moments along the way. He claimed his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Miami last year, defeating childhood idol Novak Djokovic in the final, before scoring the biggest win of his career this year by taking down then-World No. 2 Jannik Sinner in Doha this February.
But Mensik’s breakthrough came in Doha in 2024, when the PIF ATP Next Gen Accelerator gave him a chance to test himself against established tour-level players. The programme provides additional playing opportunities for the sport’s most promising young talents, helping them gain valuable experience and make the step up to the ATP Tour. It was an opportunity Mensik was quick to seize.
“The biggest benefit that the PIF ATP Next Gen Accelerator gave me was the tournament opportunities,” Mensik reflected. “Opportunity at this young age is very important for a lot of players because it gives you a smoother transition [to the ATP Tour].”
In February 2024, then-World No. 116 Mensik used an Accelerator spot to enter the ATP 250 main draw in Doha. The 18-year-old charged into his first tour-level final, defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and former champions Andy Murray, Andrey Rublev and Gael Monfils en route, before falling to Karen Khachanov in three sets.
“The Accelerator set me up for success — not just the breakthrough in Doha," Mensik said. "It’s a great opportunity for future young stars.”

The run helped Mensik break into the Top 100 of the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time and set him on a path towards the sport’s elite. Since then, he has won two tour-level titles, including his memorable Miami triumph, and established himself as one of the ATP Tour’s most exciting young talents.

The Accelerator has also supported Mensik’s development off the court through ATP Tennis IQ powered by PIF, a platform that uses data and video analysis to help players better understand their games and opponents. Mensik has used the technology to analyse his serving patterns, refine his tactics and maximise one of his biggest weapons, including during his run to the Miami title.
“The Accelerator gave me access to ATP Tennis IQ powered by PIF, which changed my game a lot,” Mensik said. “It changed my view on my game and my opponent’s game as well.”
From his breakthrough in Doha to Masters 1000 glory in Miami, Mensik’s journey demonstrates how the PIF ATP Next Gen Accelerator provides young players with the opportunities and resources to turn their potential into success on the ATP Tour.
