Arthur Fils and Rafael Jodar have resumed their quarter-final clash at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers after an hour-long rain delay at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal.
In a last-eight clash already rescheduled from Monday due to inclement weather, Jodar led Fils 5-4 in the opening set before the rain intervened at IGA Stadium. Yet that scoreline masked the fact that things could have been running much more smoothly for the Spaniard, who earlier let slip three break point chances at 4-1 to secure a double-break lead. Fils was then serving at 30/0 in the 10th game when the rain came, before play resumed shortly after 4 p.m. local time (EDT).
Whoever prevails in the encounter between 18th seed Fils and 20th seed Jodar will take on Brandon Nakashima for a championship-match spot at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Quebec. In the opening quarter-final of the day, 28th seed Nakashima breezed past 19th seed Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-3 to reach his first Masters 1000 semi-final.
