Brandon Nakashima has replaced Ben Shelton in Team World for the 2026 Laver Cup, which will be held at The O2 in London from 25-27 September.
The 25-year-old American will make his Laver Cup debut alongside Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik, Learner Tien and Francisco Cerundolo. Team World will be led by Captain Andre Agassi and Vice Captain Patrick Rafter, both members of the ATP No. 1 Club.
“I’m really excited to be making my Laver Cup debut in London,” Nakashima said. “It’s an event I’ve always dreamed of playing, and I can't wait to be part of Team World, competing alongside the guys and playing for Andre and Pat. Looking forward to getting to The O2 and doing everything I can to help the team.”
Nakashima posted a 13-4 record during the North American hard-court swing, highlighted by a run to his first ATP Masters 1000 final in Montreal, and is now at a career-high No. 16 in the PIF ATP Rankings.
Nakashima will now make his first appearance at the Laver Cup, taking the place of countryman Shelton, who last week reached his first major final at the US Open.
Team World are the defending champions after lifting the trophy in San Francisco last year. This year’s Team Europe lineup features Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Flavio Cobolli, Rafael Jodar, Jakub Mensik and Casper Ruud, with Yannick Noah serving as Captain and Tim Henman as Vice Captain.
The 2026 Laver Cup will mark the event's return to London, with The O2 previously hosting the competition in 2022.
