2 become 1 in Turin! Surprise engagement before Alcaraz match at Nitto ATP Finals

The eye-catching moments haven’t just come on the court at the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals.

An unexpected moment of romance took centre stage in Turin on Tuesday afternoon, just minutes before the No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings Carlos Alcaraz took to court for his clash against Taylor Fritz. A fan visiting the prestigious season finale from Mexico City, Isidoro Shrem, got down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend Susy Harari in their courtside seats at Inalpi Arena.

"I was nervous before, and when it came to the moment I was extremely nervous,” Isidoro, whose romantic moment was beamed live on the centre court jumbotron, later told ATPTour.com. “But everything turned out okay.”

Susy added: “[It was] an amazing experience. The tournament is really very nice and I wasn’t expecting [the proposal] at all. It was really a very breathtaking experience.”

Isidoro and Susy, who have been together four and a half years, are regular visitors to the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC, an ATP 500 event in Acapulco, Mexico, but are this week visiting the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time. Both are big tennis fans, and the couple named Carlos Alcaraz as their favourite player.

Alcaraz certainly did not let Isidoro and Susy down on their special day: Immediately following the Mexican couple’s engagement, they watched the Spaniard battle to a 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-3 victory in his Jimmy Connors Group clash with Fritz.

“I am Alcaraz’s biggest fan. It’s the first time we have seen him,” said Susy, who revealed that she and Isidoro were supposed to have also seen the Spaniard’s opening win against Alex de Minaur on Sunday in Turin but ended up missing it after their flight was delayed. “I was really nervous, but I love Alcaraz and how he turned it around, I loved it.”

“The match was amazing, he did some things that were breathtaking,” said Isidoro. “Alcaraz is such an amazing player and person as well, because he turns up the crowd and stuff. We will never forget this day. It will be the highlights of our lives.”
