Alexander Zverev and seven-time champion Novak Djokovic could face off in the quarter-finals at the Rolex Paris Masters, following Friday’s draw at the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Zverev, who is competing in the semi-finals at this week’s Erste Bank Open, is set to become World No. 1 on Monday. The German faces an intriguing draw as he prepares to compete in his first tournament as the No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings.

The 2024 Paris champion opens his campaign against last week’s Lyon champion Lorenzo Musetti or big-serving Pole Hubert Hurkacz. If Zverev progresses to the quarter-finals, he could face Djokovic in a highly anticipated showdown.

Djokovic, a record seven-time champion in Paris, boasts a 50-9 record at the tournament, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. However, the 39-year-old Serbian faces a challenging path as he looks to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals.

The 24-time major champion is currently 11th in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin and faces a tough opening match against Valentin Vacherot. In the pair’s only previous Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting, Vacherot defeated Djokovic en route to his first Masters 1000 title last year in Shanghai.

Djokovic would face Luciano Darderi or a qualifier in the second round, followed by a potential third-round encounter with Andrey Rublev or eighth seed Alex de Minaur, who is also aiming to qualify for the season-ending championship.

A showdown between Djokovic and De Minaur would prove critical in the battle for a Turin spot. A victory in those matches for Djokovic could set up a quarter-final meeting with Zverev. The Serbian leads 10-5 in the pair's rivalry.

Second seed Carlos Alcaraz opens against Alex Michelsen or Jiri Lehecka, whom he recently defeated in the Tokyo final. The Spaniard could face sixth seed and Nitto ATP Finals contender Arthur Fils in the quarter-finals, with fourth seed Daniil Medvedev or another Turin hopeful Flavio Cobolli among the potential semi-final opponents.

Cobolli, currently sixth in the Live Race, could play fellow Turin contender ninth-placed Rafael Jodar in the third round. Jodar, aiming to debut at the Nitto ATP Finals, is effectively in the final qualification spot with Jannik Sinner out for the rest of the season. Cobolli is also tryong ot make his Nitto ATP Finals debut.

Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul could meet in a blockbuster third-round match. Tiafoe is eighth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, currently 605 points ahead of 13th-placed Paul.

Third seed Ben Shelton arrives in Paris aiming to bounce back from a second-round exit in Basel, having reached his first major final at the US Open last month. The 24-year-old American opens against Cameron Norrie or Matteo Arnaldi and is seeded to face Zverev in the semi-finals.

Main-draw action at the final Masters 1000 tournament of the season runs from 2-8 November.
