Lucas Pouille suffered a devastating injury on Sunday in the final of the Lille ATP Challenger Tour event.
The former No. 10 player in the PIF ATP Rankings trailed qualifier Arthur Bouquier 3-6, 5-3 when he attempted to sprint forward to chase a drop shot, but instead fell immediately to the court in pain. The Frenchman revealed later in the day he had ruptured his Achilles tendon.
“The results are what we thought… complete rupture of the Achilles tendon,” Pouille wrote in French on social media. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your messages. I will go to do surgery in the coming days and do everything to come back.”

Last October, Pouille returned to the Top 100 for the first time since July 2021. He has struggled with injuries in recent years, but has persevered to return to the top levels of the sport.
Pouille won two Challenger titles last year and made three additional finals.
Les résultats sont ce que nous pensions.. Rupture complète du tendon d’Achille.. je vous remercie du fond du cœur pour tous vos messages.
