Daniel Rincon will not soon forget his triumph at the Rafa Nadal Open by Movistar, the ATP Challenger Tour event which the Spaniard won on Sunday. The 22-year-old, who graduated from the Rafa Nadal Academy in 2021, returned to Mallorca to capture his second Challenger title in memorable fashion.
To make it even better, former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal himself was in attendance to watch Rincon’s championship-match victory, a 7-6(3), 6-2 win against Jurij Rodionov.
“I don't think I can begin to describe what this week has been for me,” Rincon wrote in an Instagram post. “Winning my second [Challenger title] in the place I came to as a kid six years ago, and surrounded by so many people who have been with me throughout this time has been very, very exciting.”
