The Libema Open quarter-final between Daniil Medvedev and Marin Cilic, and the BOSS OPEN quarter-final between Ben Shelton and Sho Shimabukuro were suspended until Saturday due to adverse conditions.
In 's-Hertogenbosch, Medvedev and Cilic split the opening two sets before rain halted play after one hour and 17 minutes. Medvedev claimed the first set 6-2, then Cilic responded by taking the second set 6-3.
It was Medvedev's second time on court Friday. Earlier in the day, the third seed completed a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(8) victory against over 17-year-old Thijs Boogaard in a match that had been suspended on Thursday midway through the second set. The winner will face Kamil Majchrzak in the semi-finals.
Shelton also saw his quarter-final pushed to Saturday in Stuttgart. The top seed's match against Shimabukuro was suspended due to darkness after the Japanese captured the opening set 6-4. The winner will face Jiri Lehecka in the last four.
Like Medvedev, Shelton had already resumed a suspended match earlier on Friday. After slippery conditions halted his Thursday-night clash against Marcos Giron, the American returned to secure a 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(5) triumph against Giron and book his place in the quarter-finals.
