Frances Tiafoe and Hailey Baptiste go back a long way. The Americans both hail from the Washington D.C area and have been close for the past 15 years, having trained at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in Maryland.
This week at the Cincinnati Open, the No. 14 player in the PIF ATP Rankings Tiafoe and WTA World No. 51 Baptiste took time away from the court to catch up in Ohio for Tour Tales. In a heartfelt and laughter-filled conversation, the two reminisced about their early training days, the value of keeping the game fun and the exciting chapters still ahead.
With Tiafoe’s brother Franklin now a part of Baptiste’s coaching team, the ties run even deeper, making the reunion in Ohio feel more like a family affair. Tiafoe has often found his best level on the North American hard courts, reaching the semi-finals at the US Open in 2022 and 2024 and the title match in Cincinnati last year.
