Persistent rain at the US Open forced all of Wednesday’s qualifying matches to be cancelled, tournament organisers announced in the afternoon.
Play lasted only about 45 minutes, with six men’s matches in progress, before rain halted action for good.
Among those aiming to qualify for the season’s final major include #NextGenATP Dino Prizmic, Alexander Blockx, Rei Sakamoto, Martin Landaluce and Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez. Tour-veterans Bernard Tomic, Lloyd Harris and Jan-Lennard Struff remain in the qualifying draw.
The mixed doubles semi-finals and final remain on schedule Wednesday evening, set to begin at 7 p.m. ET inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula face Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek before Christian Harrison and Danielle Collins meet Andrea Vavassori and Sara Errani.
The US Open singles draw will be made Thursday at 12 p.m. ET.
