A nervy night of sleep awaits for players still seeking a US Open main-draw spot from qualifying. Most of Thursday's final-round qualifying matches were moved to Friday due to rain.

Just five players made their way into the main draw Thursday, including Grigor Dimitrov and Coleman Wong. Dimitrov advanced via walkover after his opponent, Finland’s Otto Virtanen, withdrew. Wong defeated tour-veteran Dusan Lajovic 6-4, 6-3.

Dimitrov, 35, will make his 15th main-draw appearance at the American Slam, where he reached the semi-finals in 2019. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Wong will aim to relive his Flushing Meadows memories from last year's third-round run as a qualifier, his career-best result at a major.

Toby Samuel, Tomas Barrios Vera and Andrea Guerrieri also advanced into the main draw.

Friday’s schedule includes Japanese star Kei Nishikori, who reached the US Open final in 2014, facing countryman and #NextGenATP Rei Sakamoto.
